What are you going to power them with?

After that everyone will prefer a newer model.
Hey, there's always the option to recap after ten if she's a stayer.

I think we'll all find a newer model to supercede this one in time.

Best of luck! Hope the 'Gon trx lands as promised to you. Let us know, how you go. Also, curious to know what big power-plant you are going to push them with...

While those are fine amplifiers... you will very VERY quickly realize just how anemic the speaker will sound with them.

The 2K's really demand juice. Gobs and gobs and gobs. 6000wpc is easily doable on them. (as in MC2KW actively triamped per channel)

There's a reason for 9 sets of binding posts behind each speaker o.O

OK gentlemen. I plan on using just one pair of MC601's. I do have a set of MC402's I can bridge if needed. I sold off the MC1201's long ago. However McIntosh say's you can power these with as little as 75 watts? My understanding is that the MC2K amp is just 2000 watts. The different sets of posts are for different ohm loads. I had been strongly considering a pair of the MC2K’s in the past but didn’t really have any use for that much power.
The main reason I choose the XRT2K is because of my living room acoustics. The Wilson Maxx 2's are unforgiving in their placement. You only have about a 2 foot sweet spot to sit in. I have the McIntosh XRT28's and the XRT29's. I really like how they sound great at any height you may be sitting at i.e. floor or standing up. I'm hoping that the XRT2K will resolve some of the seating position issues I'm having in my home theater setup. Also, I have high hope that they will sound as good as the Wilsons. Pretty tall order but we'll see.

The XRT2K's with the massive line array will be far more forgiving in a difficult room.

And I mentioned the back of the XRT2K's have 9 sets of binding posts - not the MC2KW (which does have the taps for 2/4/8 ohm).

And yes, the MC2KW is "just" 2000 watts. A meddlesome 2000 watts.

While Mc will say "oh sure you can use a 75 watt amp, how about this nice little MC275mkIV?" - but seriously... McSpeakers demand a wide throttle range. They sound the best when over-driven (read: over-driven as in tons of excess headroom, not because you are wanting to play at 124dB 24/7 - which the XRT2Ks can deliver).
