Default Throwback Thursday - a look at the (recent) past...


CES 2005.

The XRT2K and MC2KW prototypes were in a back room.

I must have spent half the day just in that room... it was a good day. The only thing going through my mind "holy crap these are awesome, I can't wait to see the final product."

And yes, we made PowerGuard go on many times.

seriously, it's gonna be hard to direct people's attention to your included picture with THAT avatar!

Now,... about that system ..How did those speakers sound at less than building-destroying volumes? ..I'm wondering b/c of the large tweeter array.

Very well balanced. Detailed without being bright. Bass'y without being overly boomy.

Even at low volumes the dynamics are astoundingly good. However they do require an enormity of power.

I think you could say a well rounded bottom end. The highs are a bit forward and have a tendency to draw your attention away from the overall build quality. Only a few lucky individuals will ever get to put this high end model through it paces. It should be very serviceable for at least ten years, then hold it own for another ten. I've have listened to a set of the XRT2K's and was very impressed. I just purchased a used pair on Audiogon. They should be here in about 3 weeks. I get nervous not purchasing directly from dealers. I’m making this rare exception for the heavily discounted price. I’m hoping they arrive in good shape. If they sound as good as the ones at the dealership they will be keepers. I'm currently running the Wilson Maxx 2's. It will be interesting to see how they compare.
