Mac Mini as server
I would like to integrate an extra Mac Mini into my main stereo system to play digital music. Other option would be an iPod into a spare analog input via RCA cable.
Question is (and it is a lazy one) rather than have a monitor on my equipment rack with a keyboard is there anyway to be able to set it up so I could set on the couch and access software wirelessly via a tablet (iPad)? I am trying to do this without spending money on a dedicated music server system (Sonos ect). I have a Mac Mini just sitting. Thoughts or suggestions? Thanks |

Going headless is quick and painless!
If you have an iPad just download the "Remote" app. It's easy to set up and works pretty well. You will need to have a monitor connected to the mini to turn on file sharing, but after the initial set-up the monitor won't be necessary. |

First, there is a Mac Mini, and a Mac Mini Server. You want the plain old Mini. Second, you can use it headless, I do. I use remote control for iTunes and, if I need to access the console, Screen Sharing. You can also configure it to use remote desktop. Remote Control for iTunes is available for all IOS devices. |
