Default LS12 Outputs

Hi guys! I'm considering buying an LS12 Preamp, but I'm concerned about how I can connect my subwoofer. I see 4 sets of outputs on back (Record, Main1, Main2, Main3). Main2 and Main3 are balanced outputs. Assuming I connect my amps to Main2, can I connect the left channel of Main3 to my subwoofer? Or perhaps the real question is...are all the outputs hot when in use? I assume so, as I don't see any kind of switch to select them, but I wanted to make sure.

On my ARC LS15 I am driving my main crossover with one pair of balanced outputs and my sub woofer crossover with the other pair of balanced outputs. I'm guess it would work, but I would try and configure a way to sum the Main3 outputs to attain full output to your sub.

Regards,
Jim

Thanks Jim. You're right, they're all hot. I decided to pick up the LS12 for an audition and it works great. It didn't take long to get the subwoofer dialed in. I think the optimal solution to the left/right channel issue you mention is to get another sub, which I plan on doing someday.

I really liked the LS12 over my current Anthem D2v pre/pro preamp. It's much more silky and smooth and has a much taller/wider soundstage. If a 12ish year old preamp can sound this good, I can't wait to hear the LS27 or Ref5SE that I'm aspiring to! I think the LS12 is a good compromise to hold me over, it's stayin! WOO!

Welcome to The ARC owners club! I am absolutely pleased with my LS15, and might move up to one of the reference models if the stars align properly. If not I'm still a happy owner of the LS15

Regards,
Jim
