All right I managed to read all 33 pages on this. I appreciate the review/info. I had a McIntosh MCD301 for a while that I kind of regret letting go of it.
I'm keeping an eye out for an MCD1100 but I'm sure I'm not the only one. I can't really afford a new one. If I have to step down a model does anyone know which one sounds better ie the MCD500 vs MCD550? I don't need any USB. Just straight CD player. What I like is the ability to use the volume control with no pre-amp. Currently run it straight into my Pass Labs crossover. |

I've never seen the MCD550 but have been very happy with MCD500 for the last 5-6 years |

I have had my MCD 1100 for a couple of years now. I realized a significant sound quality jump when I went to a dedicated server, a Surface Pro 3 running JRiver and a Wireworld Platinum Starlight 0.5M USB cable. Everything just fell into place sonically.
