Michael.......She is a beauty. Wonderful craftsmanship. Pump plenty of rounds through it at the range and have a blast. May you never need to use it in self defense, and God help the one who ends up in front of that barrel if you do.

Dan...Thank you very much.

I'll break it down tonight, give it an inspection, clean it, then lube it.

I'm looking forward to putting some rounds through it later this week. h

I have the SA Champion disassembled on the bench, changing out the mainspring and MS housing for some Wilson Combat parts, and I am performing a rear sight adjustment. I should have that firearm back together tonight as well.

Firearms can be as addictive as audio!

The new SA is quite the shooter. I took about 3 clips worth of ammo to get it sighted in:

This is 4 rounds of draw, fire one round, holster, repeat:

A little more practice hitting the center ring:

Eight rounds of double tap practice:

Tonight I swapped out the stock grips for some G10's with Radiation Black Out screws:

My Champion Operator (see post #1) has been sent off to the Springfield Armory Custom Shop for fitting a fully adjustable target rear sight and a red fiber optic front sight. Those mods are necessary as 1) I am right hand/left eye dominant and can't get the fixed sights drifted over enough to be able to consistently hit the X-ring and, 2) it will be my carry piece, night and day, so the red fiber will work better than a black front sight.

Oh my...I am getting a bit carried away here, aren't I...

Michael.......No, not at all. Make it your own. Your life may depend on it.

After I broke in my Smith & Wesson S&P Shield 9mm I changed the factory sights to tritium and installed the Apex trigger kit. The Big Dot tritium sight works perfectly and is easily visible in low light and no light. The Apex trigger kit shortened and made more positive the trigger reset, smoothed the trigger pull action, and reduced trigger pull from nearly 7 lbs. to 5.8 lbs. The improvements raised the performance bar on the 9mm Shield considerably. An every-day-carry has to be dependable under all conditions.

So carry on with your improvements. Make it work exactly as you like. The Springfield .45 is a beauty.

Thanks, gents. I hope that both pieces eventually become that natural extension at the end of my hand that I experienced with my old Colt.

Michael, I have a Trophy Match myself. Very nice shooter. I believe they stopped making them already?
