I have had the AV8805 for 2 years now and it’s been an absolute treat! I have a 123 on the way and can only hope it’s as trouble free. It will be my first McIntosh processor which I only took the jump based on the familiarity I have had over the last decade of Marantz pre/pros.

The Marantz AV7705 weighs 23 lbs, the 8805 weighs 30, MX123 31 lbs. All the mentioned above leads me to believe there is more 8805 in the 123 than the 7705.

You lose some features it seems, app control, AM/FM tuner, Heos (thank god). I am really looking forward to seeing how the 123 compares to my 8805.
Guess we will see.
It is the first time I write in the forum, I would like to know what differences you find between the mx123 and the av8805 when used only for movies

I can't really compare as I only have the 8805, but can tell you it is a lot of bang for the buck. I find it difficult to spend too much on a pre/pro as it seems that the technology changes so often that frequent upgrades are needed.

I am spending the weekend comparing the 8805 to 123. I agree the 8805 punches well above it’s weight! That thing is a wonderful sounding processor! Even when I compared it to my C1100 & D1100...

Enjoy. I know it will sound great! I was about to ask your impressions of room perfect, but I see that they went with Audyssey for the 123. Can't wait to hear your impressions in general.

Still comparing the two.

I did discover the MX123 uses the same HDMI board and wifi/BT board as the AV8805. Same part number and everything.

All the other boards are McIntosh. The MX123 description says it uses 32-bit premium DACs but doesn’t clarify which. Peaking inside it’s the same AKM AK4490 the AV8805 uses.

The MX123 does not appear to offer Audyssey Platinum suite like the 8805. I think it’s missing out on Audyssey Dynamic Sub EQ HT? I need to spend more time with it.
