Default MC275 Mk VI tubes

I am currently using all Gold Lion gold pins for the KT88 (4), 12AT7 (4), and 12AX7 (3). Any suggestions on other tube brands to try for the power, driver and pre tubes? Also, tube dealer with good feedback.

Lots of possibilities, but what are you hoping to achieve? Are you dissatisfied with the sound in some way, or are you seeking a particular sound character?

Mostly your 12AT7 or 12AX7 tubes if you want to try NOS tubes. Brent Jessie is highly reliable and has a very large stock of different NOS tubes. Call him to discuss your sonic preferences and his recommendations. I’ve received lots of 12AX7 tubes from him.

The Gold Lions are nice tubes, I am happy with them. Just trying the squeeze the best audio performance out of my MC275s. Always the consummate tweaker.

As curiosity gets stronger and [IF] you choose to go down this path, be prepared to buy two sets of each. Once you settle on some good NOS input/driver tubes and fall in love with the sound, spares come next.

Kevin.......You might try running the Siemens ECC801S in your 12AT7 sockets. I am very pleased with their sound in my two MC75 mono tube amps in the living room system.

Thank you for all of the replies. I found some Siemens ECC801S but a bit more than I am willing to spend for 8 tubes.

Maybe just start with changing your main input tube(s) only. While others will alter the sound, inputs can have a notable influence on the sound as a good starting point. Less cost for early experimentation purposes. I’m amazed at the variation of tones and sound going back and messing with inputs only on my Quicksilver Mono amps. Another idea on smaller scale.
