Mvp861-891 were based on denon dvd and bluray players
Mvp901 was based on the oppo bdt-101ci. I really thought mvp911 based on the oppo upd-203 was coming.

I agree I doubt we will see a new video disc player from McIntosh. Their next cd players might drop sacd too if they ever release a new cd player or transport.

As Oppo dropped CDPs over a year ago I doubt that has been a consideration. Am guessing you are correct about McIntosh and future CDPs of all sorts. Appears that game is about over for digital media disks. Music format disks were outsold by LPs this year.

Am in a bit of quandary on a new CDP. Am thinking that the wiser alternative may be a good streamer & DAC (say.... $3K for the pair or an all-in-1 box) and then do Roon and one of the hirez services.
