A friend of mine gets a Japanese audio magazine, which is the biggest market for SACD, and they select the K-01 as better than all but the $40K CH Precision. I can't read the Japanese copy though. I just wanted to know if you guys agree with the Audio Beat review. Mr. Gregory has not followed this review up with any other SACD player reviews as of now -- maybe he concluded his search and just got a K-01.

Almost seems to be a touch of soothing balm at the end of a bashing . He certainly has picked the nits with the K-01 . I can easily see where it could be off putting to a prospective buyer. Been a while since I read , such a critical piece, thought they don't write em like this any more !

jazzhead.......If you view reviews as entertainment and long winded opinions like I do, it doesn't bother me that a reviewer looks in every nook and cranny. Were he seriously considering spending nearly $20K for an SACD/CD/DAC player, I can't blame him for digging. None the less, when it was all said and done the reviewer did admit that he recognized the Esoteric K-01 as the current single box player benchmark.
