The x250.5 has been up and running for a week now and it sounds great. Any traces of sibilance are now gone. From the first day I owned a Mac amp it changed the way I looked at audio gear. With the Mac, the equipment just disappears and all that is left is the music. The Pass pushes those boundaries just slightly - being a tad more transparent and dynamic, but still sounds natural and smooth. Would love to compare it to the MC452....
I did that comparison, picked the X250.5.
YMMV

That's great news! It just takes a little time to break these babies in. Keep listening - it will get even a little better I bet. If you're already thinking of trying other amps, then you'll need to seek the same help Joe and I are in need of.....

I love so many things about this amp, but I've found it a bit hard to listen too on occasion and I find myself turning down the volume. Anybody else have this experience? Could this be remedied by anything like interconnects...?

I've not had that experience. I find myself playing it too loud because its so clean. However, I would strongly suggest trying an APC S15 or S20 power conditioner. I find it best to have one for each amp, but you could try just one to see if you like it. If you buy from Amazon, you can return it in 30 days if you don't like it. The power conditioner will clean up any noise you have on your line which might be causing you to turn down the volume. Are you sure you're well over 200 hours yet?

You could buy the APC S15 or S20 to get you through the break in period and then experiment after that.

Do you have your amp plugged in to a dedicated line? If not, you may be starving it for power, driving it into clipping well before rated power. That could be part of the problem.

I do now (and you're right....big difference), but during break in, the power conditioner helped ease the highs.

I did plug the amp into a power conditioner and it helped slightly. The break-in is driving me crazy though...it will sound like it's finally settling down and then back to aggressive and confusing. Today was definitely a move in the right direction, as it seemed to sound more natural...I could finally turn up the volume to the extreme without it driving me out of the room.
