Hi Ken, Actually all my gear is brand new. I'm pretty happy now. I can't wait until it's all broken in and burned in. It will take a lot of time. All new cables, power conditioner, speakers, amp, pre. The entire lot. I should be elated in about a month. If you can get a copy of The Absolute Sounds' review of the K-01, it may help you choose some of the settings on the DAC. It was quite helpful for me on my K-03. They say 500 hours for break in. You must admit, that transport is SWEET!!!

It is terrific that you were able to put a line up of gear of that quality together concurrently. I'm sure you will be hearing improvement with every day of listening. I have read the TAS review on the K-01 and it was very helpful. But the folks on the Esoteric threads like Dan, Tom and Carlos were even a bigger help to navigate through all the adjustments. My favorites so far are S_DLY2, native sampling, +6 db gain and USB 3 (Hi Res asynchronous). It's all good. Enjoy that sweet new rig! Ken |

I've had my K-01 for two weeks now (still breaking in) and I can tell you that it does not sound in the least bit dry or analytical. This may have been a characteristic of earlier Esoteric players but they cured these problems when they came out with the K series. I would describe the sound as extremely transparent and detailed but also with tremendous ease. There is no listener fatigue with this unit and the timbres are incredibly pure and accurate. Bass is robust and tight and there is a great deal of air around instruments and vocalists. I've only had the K-01 for two weeks but I have to say it has already significantly exceeded all of my expectations. Masterlu and Car Commander also can offer feedback as they've had their K-01s much longer than I. Penthouse, cma29 and many others can offer feedback on the K-03. JDandy wrote a tremendous review on the K-03 on the Esoteric Thread. P.S. - Organic sounding? Absolutely! All the best, Ken Last edited by PlanarSpeakerFan; 12-11-2013 at 03:04 PM. |

He seems to be very happy with it. But I'm afraid we're hijacking this Magico thread...

Hi David, I think Ken would be the best judge of the K-01. I had a K-03 and I was extremely happy with it. I'm sure the K-01 is fantastic. You could always ask Olaf. Jim
