Default Upgrade from 5SE to Anniversary 40 worth it

Hi

Happy Holidays guys . I was wondering if it’s worth upgrading from the REF 5SE to an Anniversary REF 40 . Or is it better to upgrade to a REF 6 , not the SE Version .

Best regard ,

I finally pulled the trigger and sold my REF 5SE to my cousin in law . I got the Anniversary Reference 40 since I always wanted one when they were first introduced in 2010 but could not afford it. It was worth wait and upgrading to the REF 40 was worth it . It’s clearly a better linestage than my former REF 5SE w/c was already an exceptional performer . Some of my fellow audiophiles were asking w/ the amount of cash that I added I could have gotten a REF 6. I have no buyer remorse , probably my next project would be to sell my REF Phono 2SE and upgrade to the REF Phono 10 when they’re prices go down when their superseded by a new model .

The aRef 40 is astoundingly good. My final preamp. I did as you, purchasing mine mint used.
Get rid of the silicone rings on the 6H30’s and put Herbie’s RX damping rings on them.
6550 tubes get Herbies damping rings for as well.
The massive dual mono power supply is simply off the charts magnificent IMHO.
Enjoy it!!

Thank you guys for the nice words . I wanted to post some pictures but it’s quite difficult not as easy as w/ other website . I don’t have a url .
It’s truly a great linestage , it has a 3D hologram image presentation w/c was an eye opener for me . I only heard/ notice that kind of presentation in my
friend’s REF 10 linestage .

Yes. However, you have receipt of private messages on AA turned-off. I don't have an e-mail address for you. Can you either turn on private messaging or send me a private message with your e-mail address.
