I find it interesting the MC312 cheaper than a pair of 830s and the 462 isn’t a whole lot more... so why would you buy a pair of MC830s??

I am not thrilled with the physical appearance. YMMV.

Sorry but that is just lacking styling effort, elegance and imagination. The blue meter and the name plate "McIntosh" does not save a lazy and ugly design.

I'm not sure about those MC830s but the C8 is very interesting to me. I was already thinking about replacing my C47 with something else. The C8 just shot to the top of my list.

Yes, I had the same thought. And, the available single chassis preamps and MC312 and MC462 stereo power amps are fair more handsome. Aside from somewhat lower prices, I am missing the point of these new offerings. YMMV.

They fit in the lineup with the MA252 and the MA352. They offer stand alone options in an amp and a preamp.

The C8 seems to be a replacement for the C220 with a new style chassis and DAC option.

I like it.
