The G2.1 has a copper enclosure around the entire circuitry and power supplies. All you need is a Torx T8 screwdriver to remove the bottom cover and hard drive holder. For the copper cover in the G2.1 you use a Torx T10. Initiation was easy and file transfer took time of course. I’ve read that an EVO 860 4TB works as well.

As for the sound, well for those who think that a Mac Mini is a decent server, you don’t know what you’re missing (cuz you’re not hearing or experiencing it) even with a hefty LPS.
I would agree the problem with the Mac Mini as a music is the SMPS inside; and you're correct that these SMPS cause a lot of problems as music servers. One way to fix the Mac Mini is to get the Uptone Audio internal power supply upgrade and then power it with the Uptone JS-2 linear power supply.

You’re correct about this. You could also wait a year or 2 for a Paul Hynes. I waited over two years for mine and converted my Mac Mini to accept a DC input. Even when running Roon, it’s maybe 60% of the performance of the Auralic.

Yep, I agree. In my situation, the problems arising from the Mac Mini's SMPS are mitigated by 1) using a Shunyata Venom V14D Digital power cord and 2) I'm running through an Uptone EtherREGEN (ER) via fiber to a downstream Sonore Optical Module (OM) to a SOtM Network Bridge, and the combination of using the ER (with a very good linear power supply), run of fiber and OM (also with a good LPS) pretty much completely wipe out the problems of using a Mac Mini with its SMPS.
