Like I said earlier I have not had one diamond tweeter issue on my D2 or D3 for over 9 years and I have absolutely cranked my system on many occasions.

This is not a design issue or quality issue for B&W diamond tweeters. If you know absolutely no physical contact has been made I would suggest you look elsewhere in your system for the cause of failure.

B&W tweeters for 8yrs and not one issue either...

The large number of failures of these tweeters is not a coincidence.
Maybe I missed something, but I've been reading this thread for a while, and I think there are only a couple of posters who've experienced this. Why do you say there are a large number?

Default dead diamond tweeter

Multiple owners on multiple forums and discussions with dealers who have had to replace these tweeters inside and outside of warranty. Discussion with B&W.

These are great sounding tweeters and B&W has solved the issue in its latest speakers.

This is not an issue with the tweeter itself, but physical contact being made against the dome typically by someone touching it. The lightest touch will shatter the dome.

I have heard of very few reports of the dome shattering from just driving power through them.

In The latest series D3, you cannot access to touch the dome which was a smart move on B&W’s part. Problem solved.

Our current president.

Also I see an aftermarket startup offering Cubic Zirconia tweeters to fit B&W speakers.
