Anyone know where to get one of the standoffs for IRS Beta woofer grills? They look the same as those used on the other cabinet, just with the addition of a bushing.

Were they used on any of the other speakers?

How do you remove them from the grill (do they unscrew or pull off)? If I can get one out, I'll try to scan and 3d print them, just want to make sure I'm not going to break anything when attempting to remove (they're all very tight).

... and the foam inside the passive crossover box has deteriorated on mine. Probably the same for everyone as well. Time to pull it out and replace before it becomes a sticky mess!

Thanks!

Rob
The plastic speaker grill standoffs are simply (hot?) glued into holes in the particle-board frame of the grills. Without the glue, they simply pull straight out. Since the standoffs are stronger than the frame, any attempt to muscle them out will break the frame. I suggest cutting off the protruding part, then carefully drilling out the rest. Infinity used the same standoffs on a number of their high-end speakers.

Finally got the new potentiometers to replace EMIT / SEMIT level controls. Sound is back to normal.

Disassembled one of the original pots and could see wear. Tried cleaning them up and they improved but not enough. Then tried moving the wipers to sweep a different section of the wound wire and flew too close to the sun ... killed it. Replaced the four of them today.

The one broken standoff came out from the frame (prior to my ownership). It looks as if there is a plastic part still installed in the frame, almost as if it was a separate part (maybe the standoff was glued to this remaining piece - it doesn't look broken). I'll try to take a photo of it tomorrow. Are they unobtanium?

Thanks

Rob

You can try contacting Bill LeGall at Miller Sound (http://www.millersound.net) and see if he has any he would be willing to sell you.

He specializes in repairing the Infinity IRS line & owns a pair of Infinity IRS V. He had a good supply of parts. I brought my IRS Beta woofers there 10(?) years ago to have the foam surrounds replaced & have them dynamically balanced. He did an excellent job, & I recommend him highly.

He is a nice guy, but can initially come across as a bit brusque. If you treat him flippantly, he just might "show you the door"...

I'll give him a call about the standoff. He refoamed my woofers almost 10 years ago. Hell of a nice guy. We must have talked for an hour every time I called.
