I have the 108T SE running into an accuphase c3800 and it sounds absolutely gorgeous.

Yeah, that was Ron-C who talked about the digital vs analog outs...he later posted something contradicting his original statement so who knows. I haven't tried the digital outs with my new DAC, but if for nothing else I like the convenience of just selecting the Tuner input on my C2300 and being done w/it vs selecting D/A and then having to swap to the correct input on the DAC.

The MR88 definitely has its own sound, I originally thought my modded MR74 beat it out, but there are pluses and minuses to both IMO.

I was looking at the back of my audio rack and realized I have an $800.00 Acrolink digital cable from my Esoteric CD player to the C2500. It was a matter of removing the cord from the player and connecting it to the tuner. The verdict: after an hour of going back and forth, the digital didn’t sound any better than the analog on the tuner. I will keep as is and save myself some money by not having to buy another digital cable.

Just a reminder.... The current version of the MR-88 firmware is v1.11. I called McIntosh when my MR-88 started leaving "ghosts" of the tuning indicator as I tuned the MR-88. v1.11 fixed this issue. In addition, the v1.11 firmware update does not mess up if you perform the update under Windows 7, 8.1, or 10. It's a fairly easy update and was well worth it for me. You can get it from McIntosh customer service. I can also provide you with the firmware update if you PM me.

When was firmware v1.11 released? Is it also for McIntosh MR87? The current McIntosh MR87 production firmware is v1.04, which comes with new tuners.

I asked McIntosh and their response was to test what feels and sounds best. I have tested McIntosh MR87 via D1100 and it sounds a little bit brighter than if I connect MR87 to C52 via XLR.

I tried to PM you, but your profile does not accept private messages. I would love to have copy of the MR88 firmware please.

Thank you,
Yogi.

What is different about the performance of the MR-88 compared to my MR-85 ? For me the beauty of the MR-85 makes it a keeper for life unless theres added features the 85 cannot supply ,I haven't even plugged my 85 in since tearing it nto the home to build the addition with a 2nd dedicated audio room but I need to .

I bought an MR 88 in 2012 brand new. My unit came with firmware version 1.04 I believe. I went on the McIntosh website and downloaded the newer firmware version to 1.10 with no problems. Things were fine up until recently when the LED tuning bar started to disappear while tuning to different stations. Everything else works fine. I would press the reset button to reset things and it would work for a while but eventually revert back to disappearing. I contacted McIntosh customer service to see if they would email me the newest version of the firmware v1.11. The response I got from them was to take the unit back where I purchased it and have the service people there update it.
I would appreciate any information where I would find the new download instructions to firmware v1.11 as that firmware download is not on the McIntosh website.
TY
