Airbnb Problem

Anyone used Airbnb and had a problem? We booked a week in Islamorada Key for January about a month ago and received an e-mail today that they (whomever they may be - owner or Airbnb) cancelled the reservation and we would get a "full refund". However, they are calling a "full refund" some $45 less than we paid. I've read they try to rip folks off for this $45 and am wondering if anyone has come up against this in the past. Of course, we are working thru our credit-card folks for a real full refund, but thus far Airbnb has not responded.

Usually AirBnB is fast - if the cancellation was not of your doing you should be getting the entire amount back.

Yep. That's what I think. They stated so on my cancellation notice, as well. But, when I click on the refund link it tells me that it is refunding $45 less than stated, which is $45 less than I paid. Just ain't going to work for me. We'll see what my CC company has to say. I run $50K+ a year thru them so they treat me pretty well.

FYI. Islamorada is not a key. Lower Matecumbe is the key. Islamorada is the town.

Anyone who likely is using marketing bs to describe their locale probably shouldn't be trusted.

After submitting a complaint to Paypal we received a full refund within 48hr. We were planning on booking our stay in Nice/Lyon next spring thru Airbnb, but this puts an end to that thought. No more Airbnb or us.

As far as Islamorada being a Key or a city, all the maps I've looked at (Google, the official Keys tourist map, etc.) list Islamorada unless one digs into the details. I'm good with the way the maps list their info.
