Default My Vintage McIntosh System Finally Assembled

Hi fellas -

Well after a bit of a wait, I finally received my MX 110 back from Terry this weekend.

It was the last piece of the puzzle.

I added a little twist though: I had an MC 2505 left over after an upgrade in my main system so I decided to incorporate it into the vintage system via an amplifier switcher - that way I can use either the MC 240 or the MC 2505 with the push of a button - permitting true ABing between the two amplifiers.

I added extra wire length so the switcher can easily pulled out operated at the listening position.

*I wasn't too worried about this - the wire is 18 awg which is more than ample for the 16 ohm Altec (Heathkit) horns for a much greater length than this.

The MAC 1500 receiver has also just been gone over by Terry and is in perfect condition. It isn't hooked up to anything - just there to fill in a hole.

The MX 110 came from HionFi in upstate NY - pleasure to do business with and the MC 240 from Audio Classics - who is always a pleasure to deal with of course.

I would grade each unit an honest 8.5 - 9.0 condition/ 10.

I have the wood slant leg cabinet for the 110 which I might just put on later.

Thanks for tuning in!

Eric

Man those are some beautiful pieces you got there! From the pics they look like new.

BTW, what are those beige squares of carpet doing on the floor in front of the cabinet?

Thought I'd throw in a couple of my main system. Sorry about the picture quality.

I guess it could also be called "vintage" - but it still seems modern to me. (Age showing -lol)

Eric.......Your photos are beautiful. It warms my heart to see such a fabulous McIntosh vintage system. I owned a pair of Altec Voice of the Theater speakers back in 1968 and powered them with McIntosh MC30's. They rocked the house. I remember seeing the Altec Heathkit speakers in the Heathkit catalog and drolled over them more than once. They are much better looking than my old A7's in the gray utility cabinets with the horns mounted outside on top of the cabinets.

I'll bet your vintage sound system sounds spectacular. Happy listening and thanks for keeping those wonderful old McIntosh components in fine working order. .

Thank you sir!

I was using them to kneel on last night when I was hooking everything up. Forgot to move them out before shooting pics. They're gone now.

Thank you kind sir!

I did it sort as a tribute to my grandfather - without whose knowledge, would probably have never heard of McIntosh.

That's remarkable how many have fond memories of Heathkit products.

They're a perfect pairing for McIntosh tubes, this side of Klipsch.

That is a beautiful vintage Mc system. I'm sure it sounds sweet. Time to put on the Beatles Revolver and rock that room!
