Over 2 years with Shindo....
I have owned my Shindo gear for over 2 years now and have maybe about 1000 hours on it as well as my Devore 0/96 speakers.
This system never fails to impress. The D'Yquem's 300b amp's are without a doubt the best sounding amplifiers I have ever heard. Never tire of listening to them. Coupled with the brilliant Vosgne Romanee preamp the sound quality is by far the most musical I have experienced in my room. I want to keep listening late into the night every listening session and have no urge whatsoever to swap, change or upgrade my gear at all. This coming from a guy who not only got tired of audio gear quickly but cars, bikes and pretty much everything I collected. It was a disease. I am mesmerized nightly by the way this particular gear draws you into the music in a way that is hard to describe. In over 40 years of owning very good brands of the usual suspects I was always looking for more. No more. I'm done! Maybe some Shindo speakers somewhere down the road although the Devore 0/96's after serious breakin hours are absolutely amazing. They may be one of the best values available for the tube amp crowd. Synergy is obviously the key to any well done system and the combination of the Shindo 300b amp's and Devore 0/96's with a well thought out front end of either a good vinyl or digital rig works for me. Couldn't be happier!

Great to hear it JJ. I feel our lack of pain, as we have very similar
setups. I enjoy both my Altec's, and DeVores. Can you share a bit on your positioning and room details? About how far out from rear, and side walls...? Are you on carpet, hardwood, or a combo of both? |

The room has hardwood floors and two large area rugs. The speakers stand on the hardwood and project onto a combination of wood and rug. The speakers are placed about 9 feet apart and about 3 feet from the side walls. They are about 2 feet from the back wall. I sit about 20 feet away from the speakers and this setup seems to work pretty well. In a perfect situation I would probably bring the speakers a little closer together and sit a little closer as well. I am blown away by how the Devores just fill my big room with sound. I have heard them in smaller rooms and they sound good but I really think they need space to really perform. The 0/96's took forever to break in but are sure sounding sweet now. BTW, did I read somewhere you upgraded your preamp to the VR. If so, did you notice a huge improvement over the Monbrisson.

I also feel content with shindo amps (Haut Brion) and O96 speakers. I listened to the Petite Latours this week (still breaking in) and was very impressed and would love to go that way in the future, but when I got home and listened to my system with the same vinyl I was still blown away by how awesome it sounds and feel very lucky and content to be in this place. I just never get tired of listening to my system and as soon as the music starts never think about needing to upgrade.

Yes, must have spent half the day there, good times. I'm very envious of his speakers, can't imagine how amazing they will be when matched with his gear at home.

The supreme musicality of the Shindo gear never ceases to impress me. Whenever I feel good, I listen to music through Shindo. But when I feel bad, I do it also. And the relief is unique for its intensity. This connection to the music makes you forget all your troubles. Shindo is more than a medicine. It enhances my whole life.
