Hi Robert,

Yes, it's me: small world, isn't it? I bought the REF40 in December, but I took delivery in January since I was out of the country for a few weeks around that time.

Nice avatar, BTW.

Thank you, Mike. This is a new system for me and I am very happy with the way it sounds.

Mmm, it seems all our dealers claim that the ref 40 they've sold us is the last that the factory produced as a come on!

Hahaha...that's exactly what I was thinking! Maybe we should start listing out SN in our signatures.

I think the point i was trying to make was that there were still some new units made through the end of 2011. My understanding is these units were made to fill the final orders. I for one was surprised because I thought the opportunity to buy one had passed...and there may still be a few floating out there.

The dealer hook that got me was " I have a new Ref 40 available"

not " I have the last one produced"

The Ref 40 had me at hello...and am very glad to have one.

Also excited to see how the new moon 850P I ordered for study compares to the KX-R in my main room.

It's a preamp month

My point as well. I was happy to have the opportunity to buy one and could not have cared less whether that was the very last or to be followed by another thousand.

Anyone know of any more sealed units?
AFAIK at the end of April ARC made a call for the last late orders and the number of orders was unexpectedly high. Some dealers only received them much later and a few are hiding them, expecting delivery of the new REF250 and REF750. Some of their good clients will only take the best!

I did not quite believe their claim of one year limited production in the first place.
Even now we can still buy new one.

How many set of ref40 have been made do you think? I guess about several hundreds
Of them.

I got mine last. October. The local dealer said he didn't have one but had sold 6, far more than expected. I spoke with Kalvin at ARC and he said they were still some out there. After sending out 10 emails I found 2. The out of area dealer I bought from asked ARC's permission before he made the sale. I don't think it would have been allowed if they were still taking new orders but who knows. Philly must be the Ref 40 capital. Wonder if my next door neighbor has one?

Weeelllllll, when we live in the country, "next door" is relative...

I'm at 386 hours on my Anniversary, and around the same on the 250s...things are starting to get serious.
