I’ll second the Westone recommendation, I have the ES50 custom in-ears and they’re excellent, and I’m sure the 40s are good as well.

Try Grado. Bright cans. Personally I love their mid centric energetic sound d that makes everything sound alive on them with musicality.

Now, the Grado 325e have that sound that I described, but with low end ready tuned into them it's really good. It embodies what you did described in original post.

Another example is the Grado 225i, which I couldn't stand. But with my Sony PHA -1A amp/DAC plugged I to them they sounded d great. It's that sparkling high end and mids but with some actual weight and slam on the low end.

Another set of cans I tried that seem to have a good tuning to include sparkling highs and still have good lows is the closed version of the Audeze EL-8. They are going for 340USD now on Audeze website.

Campfire Andromeda don't sound warm.
I have Shure 800-something, Campfire Andromeda, and isine 20.
With all in earphones the bass is highly dependant on a good seal, you may already know this but I had to learn it quickly. Try different ear tips to get different results.
The isine 20 is the worst of the three. I get great bass with the isone 20 when I shove the tip into my ear, but it always slides out making the bass drop. Audeze says that it doesn't need to be pushed into the ear for good bass (which I disagree).
Shure may be the best overall but I'm really listening to my Andromeda's the most right now.

Also if you don't get the best fit try out a product called comply which sells aftermarket foam tips for about every earphone. They gave me a free assortment for all my earphones at the Rocky Mountain Audio show.

As a bonus all three offer a lightning cable. The shure cable is about $100 and doubles as a control to change volume, skip songs, answer calls, etc. The Campfire has one for $200 but is plain in features, but is a pretty braided cable with I think silver plated wire.

After reading definitions of neutral/warm/bright I'd say the Campfire Andromeda is closest of the three I own.

Why don't you like open back headphones? Just curious. I'm considering a pair of open back and want to know what I need to be careful of.

Without a doubt, I highly recommend you try the Fostex TH900. They have insanely powerful bass and are on the bright side. However, they do sound best with a proper amp. I have tried plugging them directly into my imac but they sounded bad. When I plug them into my McIntosh C40...WOW!!! Big bass requires a lot of power.

Thank you all for your input!!!!!!!!!!!

I am buying from Crutchfield. They have an awesome return policy and I have a Sony Services card with them. And I’ll get 6 month financing.

I don’t like open back because I can hear everything around me too much. I will be living in my new apartment soon and I can very easy hear anything that’s happening in the hallway on the other side of the front door.

Crutchfield has the Audeze EL8 closed back for $699 or something so if the Audeze site really has it for $340 I hope they’ll match it. I don’t remember seeing it that cheap on Audeze site. Where is that? The Audeze EL8 closed back is already on my list to try

Ok. The Audeze EL8 closed says pre order on the site and $339 is used. Refurbished or whatever. I hate that cus I want something never been used. Jerms etc. It’s a health thing.

For what it’s worth, I tried the EL-8s. I gave up on them after two sets in a row had a dead left side. They’ve probably solved that issue by now (this was a year or two ago) but be wary of used or refurbished.

Yeah I have them and they have an issue with the cord staying in the can. It's a special connector, of course. Mine sound great but I'm constantly wiggling the connection.

So maybe I shouldn’t try the EL8?

Well it's great sounding, I don't know if they have fixed this issue in later production runs. If you really like them, it's worth looking into.
