Yes, the lineage of the Cayenne is recent but it is the first V8 since the 928. The Cayenne also shares the platform with the VW Toureg and Audi Q7 both of which are also rather recent without much lineage. The Cayenne however can be said to have had some adventures in the short period of time. From the TransSyberia Rally to Desert Crossings and probably a bit of everything in between.

Now that Ford has planned to kill the Taurus and a few others in favor of the SUVs it is interesting to go back through the lineage in reverse. The Taurus can be directly traced back to the roots of Ford.

This also highlights that along the way, many manufacturers have lost their creative flair and the boldness that put American cars in the spotlight for the whole world to be in awe and inspired by. Those days are gone...

Ok I will take a stab at this from a his-n-her start point. 1992 Myself (My name is Dan) and my wife (Kim) tied the knot...

I have mentioned before that I was in the US Army. 1993 stationed in Augusta Georgia with his-n-her Ford Probe GT’s as daily dirvers...

Now traveling the Al-Can highway to my next assignment, Fairbanks Alaska in his-n-her 1996 Jeep Cherokees. Watch out for the wild horses and a quick stay in a cabin resort in Tok before arrival...

Fast forward to the present, my 2 month “test drive” daily driver with a 2019 Ford Edge ST, AWD until I traded it for the 2019 Bullitt. Kim’s 2014 Ford Explorer SEL in the 3rd bay of our garage. My remaining actual daily driver is outside in the parking bay, a 2014 Ford Edge Sport...

Regards

Very cool, thanks for sharing Dan. I got married (first time around in 1992 as well) as well as owning a "few" Jeeps and Mustangs along the way.

My daily driver is a 2019 Club Car. Preceded by several earlier iterations. The original version was a guy carrying his golf clubs on his back. I’m fortunate to live in a coomumity where the primary form of transportation is golf cars.
