Do they still make them? I read recently that most manufacturers have moved away from Plasma technology and have quit making plasma TVs.

Yes, they are custom made to order. Today, they cost much much more than $70K. More in the neighborhood of 8x that; then there is the weight issue, just over 1300 lbs.

OMG - serious installation including mounting brackets unless it sits on the floor, but still...

A decent A/C required also, with such a huge plasma...

Wish you where here in Orlando. I’d love to set that system up for you. I do maybe 2 or 3 systems a year that cost ( and are worth it ) over 30k . I love unpacking and hooking all that stuff up and then pulling out my meters and scope, and my old McIntosh pro line laptop and spending days with all of that stuff. And getting the sound just right. And then how the owner likes it to sound.
In the end it’s ALL well worth my time,
And I love spending someone else’s money lol. I have only charged one person for doing a sound check and setup. This guy had more money then brains, And I’ll leave it at that point

$500,000 to be exact. It is pretty old tech for now. Although the panel is true 4k at 4096x 2160 (17:9 ratio), its inputs are HD-Sdi, Hdmi 1.1 and DVI which are limited to 1080p60. Therefore it can only display 2K sources upscaled 4K and its scaling quality is a suspect due to the age of tech in it. A bigger concern than weight is 3700 Watts nominal power consumption lol.

If the op insists on a television rather than a projector then the Sony Zd9 at 100” is the largest modern TV for $60k. I would still listen to you and go for the Sony 5000es laser projector for the same cost plus a good motorized blanking screen. Perhaps a Lumagen Radiance Pro to tame such a display.

Sony 885es is also a good option for $25k. It’s similar to 5000es with half the light output (12’ screen max perhaps). But if you light control the room, it can do.

If you end up buying a TV for a 40’ room, make sure to get a good pair of binoculars

Anyone who is paid such a salary which can afford high end gear should have enough brains to put together a setup. But keep in mind, some people earn more than what pro installers charge per hour so it makes more financial sense to have someone else do it.

Installing and tweaking is % 75 of the joy for me, therefore I don’t let anyone touch my gear even if they offer to pay me. Thru pro installers only products often irritate me for this reason. You have to pay them to watch you do it or source the products/ software via grey market.

Well, I do it for the love of audio and more often then you think. A lot of these people with more money then they know what to do with, can’t even set a cart on their TT and think spending 20k on a set of speaker cables is all they have to do to make the system sound good
And yes I will put my skills up against pretty much anyone , ( I said pretty much anyone )not all. When it comes to setup of a audio system.
