No decision has been made; it wouldn't be for the house I'm in now anyway.

It was my Monaco that Turntable looked after for a while (had to break the purchase to the wife). I use a Triplanar VII & LPS with a 1:10 SUT.

I'm very happy with the sound. It is the best deck I have had - and it is the original 1.0 Monaco - not the 1.5.

The most striking feature is the black background and sense of air around notes. DD really does things no belt drive does.

Unlike you I don't have any experience with high end decks apart from hearing a few. All I can say is I'm very happy with the purchase and recommend it particularly if you like Classical music.

Cheers

Pleasure.

The only thing I would say is I suspect, but do not know for sure, that it is best matched with a fairly generous system - that is one that tends to the warmer side of life. Fremer has famously described it as thin and analytical, and while I don't agree with that, it is certainly different to a belt drive in it's presentation.

As Shane mentioned the bass is, like other direct drives, the best in the business. What I really like is that it is small, and fits nicely into the cabinet that I use to store records in. Coupled with a good integrated, it makes for a very compact system easily hidden into the domestic situation. Overall for my needs it just about perfect.

+1. The presentation is neither thin or analytical. It does not have the pitch issues of belt drive tables. The table is very balanced with amazing sound staging and black, black backgrounds. The bass is very articulate and textured. Just for laughs, I checked the the speed stability with a strobe and and boy it was spot on and didn't change. I've heard the table with many systems and it works well with any.

Hi Sanji - greetings from one Monaco owner to another!

I should thank Fremer for his review - they are relatively unpopular among the uber decks, and so was a relatively affordable buy for me secondhand. Thanks Mikey!

The mantra is, anything that doesn't sound like the Continuum is colored or thin and analytical. In actuality, a friend of mine who is extremely respected in the music industry who had the Continuum table described it as analytical. He said, I had this uber expensive table in my home, but I didn't wake up every morning excited to listen to it. I laughed! Also, the Cobra tonearm was designed based on the Tri-Planar.
