The Amati Anniversario's (92dB efficient) should reduce the required amplifier power for the same volume level to half that required for the Memento's.

If you are talking about bragging rights and wow factor, that's another story, but I don't see another pair of 601's for the studio. The wind may change, so one never knows.
I'm getting by with 10w and 93dB speakers. Granted, my speakers have a more benign impedance but 10w is 10w vs 450. I think you'll be ok Dan.

Serge.......Phew, I was worried there for a millisecond or two.

Superb articulation of what the MC601 is all about. I wont go any further lest my mind start playing "images and ideas"!

Although I am deeply rooted to my All Meridian setup, still, reading the write up/review did rock my mind.

I know the MC601's will bring you many hours of listening pleasure, just like the MC501's have for the past years.

Congratulations Dan!

Jerry.......Thank you. Be careful, because a second reading of my review could be harmful to your bank account. Marriage, too.

Massimo.......Very much appreciated. Thank you. An amplifier like the McIntosh MC601 makes it easy to write a glowing review. My biggest problem is trying not to gush.

Gush away Dan, no one will mind and I think everyone understands your passion. Besides, the 601's deserve it.

Dan,

As a fellow 601 owner, I had great enjoyment reading your review. You have such a wonderful way of articulating to the reader what you are hearing. It is great to have both your's and Serge's stamp of approval.

Mike.......I couldn't be happier myself.

The new MC601 amplifiers now have just over 110 hours on them. As good as they sounded right out of the box, I have to admit they have picked up a little bit more air and transparency around voices and instruments since I wrote the review. I continued to be rivited by the firmer grip the amps have on the PMC EB1i woofers. Bass has never sounded more well defined. The faster paced dynamics are still thrilling me, too. I am so happy with the MC601's.
