A set of NOS GE211's are highly recommended. I have them on my 805AE's and they sound awesome, much better than the Chinese versions.

Unfortunately, I don't think they can take 211s. Cary site says 845 tubes.

Dan, I am patiently waiting for mine. Thanks for the pics. :-)

If you want to see something really cool, youtube "Cary 211" and watch the videos. I don't know who the guy is but his system is awesome. Has a bunch of recording done at 24/96.

Chris,

I just watched some of the videos you posted in the other thread. Quite curious what is the rest of his system.

Joe Ling

Hi Joe,

Have you explored any non stock tubes? I took delivery of my 211FEs in May of 2013. I am using the stock tubes provided by Cary and currently have about 150-200 hours on them and so far I am in sonic heavan. What pre are you using?

Best,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Congratulations on a pair of fine amps. I am using the Cary SLP-05, what's yours ? Using mostly PSVANE branded tubes for now. 300Bs are the pseudo mesh plate form DIY HIFI Supply.

Starting to grow on me for sure .

Regards,
Joe Ling

Joe - thanks. I too am using the SLP-05 pre-amp. Did you use the stock tubes at all in the amp or pre? If yes - how would compare them to what you are using now?

Best,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Never did try the stock tube but went straight for the PSVANE. FWIW, I did try a set of NOS Philips EL34 but found that I prefer the PSVANE more.

Regards,
Joe Ling
