This new product has me about to jump onto the Sooloos bandwagon.

You are correct, at that price point the new Meridian it is something I will consider.Too many limitations on the old product for what they were asking. The new unit reminds me of a Mac Mini with a superior user interface.

Any computer (Mac/PC) attached on the same network can handle ripping to the device.

THX for the headsup Howie...I know Naim uses a bit-perfect ripping algorithm...does Meridian offer high quality ripping software to be used on the PC ?

Thank You

Meridian uses EAC, which is very good. I rarely use the drive on my control 10 to rip CD's. It's the only weak link in the Sooloos, not terribly robust, so I always rip from networked computers.

I can't wait to get one of these!

It's PC only so if you are a Mac user, you need to run Windows on it when using the M software I think.

Edit: It is PC and Mac. I was confused with Mconfig software for meridian processors.

Is that something new? I have seen the Mac Control software for the previous hardware.

I'm not finding myself interested in the $3K Sooloos MC200. It strikes me as being designed first for a Meridian system (nothing wrong with that, mind you), and then as a stand-alone server sans disc player. The attraction of Sooloos for me is the beauty and sex appeal of the amazing touch screen system on the Control 15, and the beautiful lines of the component itself. With its internal 500 GB hard drive, CD player, and touch screen operation it simply reeks sophistication. $7500 is a slightly stiff entry fee for CD only, but not unrealistic for the total package. If 500GB isn't enough storage a 2TB Twin Store can be added for an additional $3000. Of course, you still need a top flight DAC to complete the package like the internal DACs in the new McIntosh C50 preamplifier.

I agree Dan . A mac mini at $700 will do everything this machine does plus act as a HD movie server.
