Oh one more thing the C2300 / D1100 is superb, to quote computer audiophile the D1100 is a sonic dreamland and the remote controls both components that comes with the D1100

I noticed quite a large difference between these two preamps when listening to vinyl. Does your JA Michell (no 'e' btw ) have vertical tracking alignment (VTA)? This is a quick/easy adjustment on some turntables as a way to achieve more/less bass/treble if really needed. The price of the C500 range is getting closer to the C2300.... not that anyone on here would encourage anyone else to spend more money

I have a SME tone arm on my turntable which does have vertical adjustments but who wants to fuss around with the tone arm calibration every time a different song plays?

It's mostly when you switch between the different thickness records. 150, 180 and 200gm. Once dialed in, you can write down the settings, make marks, etc... when you switch records. Some do not like to mess around with it but it does make a substantial difference to tonal balance to have the VTA dialed in properly.
