Many thanks for your reply and advice. I'd never considered Esoteric and will take a good look. One thing though, given that I've inly just purchased an ARC DAC/Media Nridge, I wasn't really wanting to scrap in and wouldn't I be better with a good transport and rely on the ARC's reference DAC? After web based research, possibly the Esoteric P-05 or a Metronome T3a or an MBL 1521A? I don't know any and doubt whether I'll be able to audition any but the metronome so as per the usual dilema, am highly reliant on others experience and advice.

I don't know about transports, someone else will have to chime in. But if you got the Ref dac very recently, maybe you can return it. Don't get a cd 8, you are limiting yourself to redbook then. If you don't have a need for all arc gear, my advice stands. There's better.

Hi
just 2 months ago I sold my Ref cd8 I Ref5 and bought RefDAC - first I have fought files would be enough to play but when I compare streaming with CD via transport it was no doubt - I bought MSB Signature CD DATA and it is much better than CD8 or CD9. I tested it as well as option for REF DAC+transport). streaming of the files is ok comparing to CD8 level so if I do not have time for changing the CD just play from NAS or connect to internet radio (another great thing in RefDAC).
