Sounds like a great choice. Too bad all my amps are captive-corded.

Venom Defender now on board
Which of these configurations makes the most effective noise-reduction use of it? (Please ignore the Hydra's current placement. That will change for the better when I build a new rack.)
Thanks.

Plug it into the wall outlet.

Thanks, Caelin.
I'll be turning over the noise reduction duties to the Venom NR v.10 I have on order as soon as it arrives.

Where can we find info on the new Venom NR cables?

Soon...very soon. My understanding is that Shunyata Research will be updating their web site with their new product releases (e.g. Venom NR-series, Denali 6000/S V2, etc) within the next week or so, so stay tuned. The press release for the new Denali 6000/S V2 just came out yesterday, if memory serves.
You can place an order now for a Venom NR-V10 or V12 power cord, if need be.

A little noise reduction goes a long way...at least to these ears.
The Venom Defender has been in the bedroom system during a continuous playback run now of just over 25 hours--about 22 of them with it plugged into the wall outlet. Caelin of course is right--playback sounds better with it there than plugged into the Hydra. One manifestation of the "better" brought to the system by the Defender is the reduction of HF "tizz" that had partially obscured some subtle high-frequency percussion in Morton Gould's "Guaracha" from his "Latin-American Symphonette" (RCA 16/44 rip). The rhythmic wood-block "ticks" that inner-voice the pertinent passages are now discernible to these ancient ears, as is a previously half-buried, subtle triangle stroke in the title theme from David Raksin's score for "The Bad and the Beautiful" (RCA 16/44 rip). Bass is somewhat tighter, and there's a tad more corporeal growl emitted by the New York Phil's string basses in the Bernstein-conducted Berlioz "Symphonie Fantastique" (Sony/Columbia SBM'd 16/44 rip). Overall, I sense a somewhat greater "ease" of presentation of both performing ensembles and recorded space. The magic continues.

Caelin, I also own an Original Hydra with the twist-locking PowerSnake cord. I had no idea that the "OH" did not incorporate a noise reduction function. You recommend adding a Venom Defender as a consequence. Must the Venom Defender be inserted into one of the OH's six outlets (all of which are invaluable for me) or can it be plugged into the wall outlet alongside the OH's PowerSnake cord?
