Default Unpacking DC-37

Does not come with remote , says it so in the manual! Big surprise!
But we discussed it here as a possibility of using it as a preamp!

O well, do not need it. I am playing it thru Cary SLP-05 preamp.

I am not sure I understand exactly what you mean. You do not need a remote for the DAC, or you do not need the DAC because it lacks a remote? Either way you should be able to buy separately an Accuphase remote for your DC-37. The Accuphase RC-110 remote that comes with the DP-720 and DP-900 units will most likely be able to control also the DC-37 DAC. (Of course, make sure that Accuphase confirms this before you order it.)

Some months ago I was interested in buying a DC-37 DAC, and because I knew the DC-901 DAC is sold without a remote control, I have checked carefully the DC-37 brochure. Consequently, I was fully aware the DC-37 DAC is sold without a remote control. I find the situation incredibly stupid, i.e. Accuphase thinking that it is more important to provide an RCA cable than a remote control for the DC-37 DAC. It really is beyond me.

Would have been nice to try and connect DC-37 direct to the AMP. And if the remote was there to control the volume......Just for fun to see, how much I would miss the pre-amp. Can still do it with out remote and burn couple of calories.

Yes and no:
Yes, the remote commander RC-110 is sold with the DP-900 not with the DC-901, but no, it controls both units.
And DP-900 / DC-901 carry identical serial numbers, thus forming together a single functional unit.
I do not think, it would be practical just to buy a DC-901 without the DP-900, although the units are listed separately on the price lists.

Martin

Mi Martin, I think you have misread my post. I did not say the RC-110 remote can not control the DC-901 DAC. I have said (or meant to say) that I have checked the DC-37 brochure to see if the DC-37 is delivered with or without a remote control. I have done this because I knew that when sold alone (i.e. without the DP-900 transport) the DC-901 DAC comes without a remote control. Somebody has reported this here some time ago.

nvp...you are correct; no remote control with DC-37

Very nice but why not get the DC-901 instead?

Cost - DC-37 nearly half the cost!
