Way back in 1972, my first major audio purchase as a wee lad:

My first "high end" component was a pair of Bose headphones that I got for Christmas in 2012. Those headphones launched me into the world of head-fi and up the ladder of headphones, amps, and DACs and eventually into the world of 2-channel audio.

A pair of Phase Technology euro series bookshelves that had generic replacement drivers. Oh well, I've moved on to better things!
The first piece I actually liked (and still have) was a few months later; a Technics SA-203. I think that receiver is what hooked me on vintage gear. Hey, it was high end compared to the other stuff I had at the time! Last edited by Tdwpgtp; 05-15-2019 at 04:16 PM. |

Audionics of Oregon BT-2 preamplifier and CC2 amplifier. I was hooked after those two.

On getting my first job in the 80's after graduating college went out and purchased a Denon DP-1200 c/w Dynavector Ruby Karat MC, along with an Audio Design PA100 power amp and matching preamp. I had no clue about audio, simply asked the shop to set me up with something nice. That they did.
