Default "First Look" Beats by Dr. Dre Studio headphones – EKOCYCLE Edition

Just received this a few minutes ago. I am very excited to show you guys. I really like the idea behind it. Can't wait to get home. Stay tuned for unboxing video and impressions.

Beats by Dr. Dre Studio Headphones - EKOCYCLE Edition | By Will.I.Am & Coca-Cola | FreshnessMag.com

I think more manufactures should make things from recycled materials.

See documentary trailer.

Mike,
Why do the headphone have cables, batteries, & are bluetooth? Are they cordless & hardwire-able? I noticed on the Dan Patrick show on Directv most of the guys were wearing Beats headphones. The cables for the headphones Dan Patrick uses are huge. I guess this brand is doing well.
Thanks for the write-up Mike.

Mike

The Studio is not wireless. Beats do make a wireless BT version for $279.

People aren't seeing the entire picture on these headphones. There are a lot of features on Beats headphones done right while other headphone manufactures missed. A lot of people hate on Beats for one reason or another. For me, I think some models sounds great and perhaps the BEST for Rap/Hip Hop music. If you don't like that genre, Beats is NOT for you.

I think for most audiophiles, the issue is that Beats headphones are deliberately bass-heavy to the detriment of the rest of the sonic spectrum. It is the same criticism that many have of bass-shy/top end-heavy components. The fact that you are missing part of the sonic picture is inherent in the design of the component. I say this as someone who listened to a lot of hip-hop in college.

Are there any beats cans that are active noise cancellation yet?

Still looking for the next great thing to take down my Senn PXC450's... they seem hard to unseat for those that like to ignore noise on a plane.

E,
I got this from the web site for Beats Studio. I think they have the same specs as the one's here that Mike is reviewing. These have some sort of noise canceling.

POWERFUL ENOUGH TO BLOCK OUT A JET ENGINE.
Powered by a pair of AAA batteries, the noise cancellation feature in a pair of Beats Studio headphones amplifies the music as it blocks out noise, giving you consistently powerful and intense sound.

EXTRA COMFORTABLE EAR CUPS.
Super plush and covered with ultra-soft breathable materials, you’ll be cool and comfortable even during marathon listening sessions. The Beats by Dr. Dre logo on the side also acts as a mute button when you press it. No need to take them off to talk.

A FLAWLESS AND ICONIC FIT.
Designers of Beats Studio headphones conducted a series of ergonomic studies to find the perfect lightweight, foldable headphone that always delivers a comfortable fit. The result is a design now copied by brands around the world.

REMOTE CONTROL.
Take calls, skip songs and adjust volume right from the cord of your Beats Studio headphones. No more searching for your phone or music player just to find the right song.

Oh good, now I don't have to worry about trying a pair since I don't listen to hip-hop and I don't consider rap music, just an annoyance. Now that I think of it maybe these do serve a purpose. If the person listening to rap has these on, I won't have to hear the noise.
