Default New C1100 and passthrough question

Hi all,

I recently moved up from a C2500 to the C1100. My system serves double duty as home theater and 2 channel listening.

On my C2500 for HT passthrough I used a mono trigger cable from my MX122 processor to the C2500 and a stereo trigger from the C2500 to my MC452 amp. This would turn of the meter and tube lights on the C2500 and turn off the meter lights on the MC452 in passthrough mode only.

When I try the same setup on my C1100 to MC452 only the meter lights turn off on the C1100 but not on the 452 amp in passthrough. The tube lights on the C1100 and meter lights on the 452 also stay on.

Does the C1100 not have the same capability or am I doing something wrong? I have tried MAIN, OUT and TRIGGERS with the same results.

I’ve emailed Chuck at Mac but it would be nice to get an answer over the weekend if anyone else knows.

Thanks,
Karl

Hmmm ... does the C1100 perchance prefer a stereo TRS cable between it and the MX122? Surely the OM has the answer.

I should have noted that I tried that as well with no luck.

My mx160 triggers my C1100 into passthru via stereo 12v trigger and same thing here. The C1100 and D1100 meter lights turn off but my 601s do not.

Interesting and thanks for sharing your experience with a similar setup.

Same with my C1100, D1100 and MC303 amps. When passthrough is engaged by the Marantz AV8805, with stereo mini cables the amp lights kick on.

i’d have to think a firmware update could solve that.

That was my thought as well. Odd that a lower tier product works the way it should. Don’t get me wrong, I love the upgrade and am extremely happy with the C1100 but little issues like this drive me nuts.

Chuck confirmed that the C1100 does not have the ability to control the lights on the amp in pass-through mode.

Kind of ironic that a feature like that would be lost as you move up the ladder ...

The C1100 is a more dedicated 2 channel device then the c2500/2600 preamps. I would expect a leaner more focused preamp for dedicated 2 channel systems.

It’s too bad you were not informed of this issue before switching.

I hope it’s not too bothersome.
