Default Power Cord & Interconnects for K-Series CDP

Hello all,

I have a couple of questions for K-series CDP owners;

1. My Esoteric dealer says the power cord that is supplied in the box with the CDP should be used. Do owners have an opinion on this?

2. If you have used a third party power cord what was it and what did it bring to the party vs. the supplied power cord?

3. What interconnects are you using with the K-series? Have these improved sound quality and if so in what way?

Many thanks!

1. Leave the stock power cord where it belongs; in the box.

2. WW Platinum Electra 2.0M, huge improvements in every audible aspect.

3. WW Platinum Eclipse XLR, there is quite a bit written about these cables already in the WW forum. I would highly recommend to get the best PC & IC's you can afford to go with these SOTA players.

Many thanks for the reply Ivan.

I have the best power cord and IC I could afford. I am using a Nordost Valhalla power cord and IC - but I am not sure right now whether this is the best solution for the K-03.

Right now I am finding the treble extension, resolution and deep bass are all simply first class with the K-03. But, the mid-range IMHO is cool & lean - too lean - in fact. The unit has 500 hours on the clock and I am using 4x upsampling and no filter options. This provides the most open sound in my system.

Does the WW stuff add any mid-range body? Is it on the slightly warm side of the great divide? If it is uber neutral then I think it might not help me here.

Thanks!

Ps. The stock power cord is staying where it belongs - unpacked in the box.

I am using the stock power cord and Kubala Sosna Elation balanced interconnects. org and Sldy1 on my K-01 and K-03. I have tried Tara .08 and they didn't sound nearly as good. The nordost stuff has a reputation for being pretty lean. Most dealers will loan you stuff to try, the list is endless. My experience with power cords is that they make the least difference. Everything changes the sound, its just whether you like the change or not. Herve reccomends the stock power cord on my Dartzeel amp. I would start with the stock power cord and then borrow a set of interconnects and see what it does.

Kiwi.......I am using a two meter Wireworld Silver Electra power cord with my Esoteric K-03. I have no issues whatsoever with the balance of the frequency spectrum. My K-03 is delivering a natural presentation from top to bottom.

I am using Wireworld Silver Electra PC and Wireworld Silver Eclipse interconnects on my K-03. I think it sounds great but I didn't compare this to many of the other cables on the market.

Just switch from the cold Valhallas to the neutral (with a touch of warmht) Kubala Sosna Emotion power cord and interconnects

I think the KS Elations are better but of course more expensive.

I use Kubal Sosna Elation PC, and I find that is the best PC for CD players, full spetrum top to bottom.

I'm using Purist Audio Design Dominus for PC and PAD Aqueous Anniversary for interconnects. A very full and satisfying sound in all dimensions. You might try the Cable Company and sample some options for your SACDP to see what works best for you. I settled on SLDY1 filter with no upsampling. This is from my perspective the best setting by far for this player. I tried all 16 variations in coming to this determination. It also just happens to confirm the findings of Arthur Salvatore's reported testing of the player.
