Hmm, this is what I am expecting, but ARC keep telling me that it will not happen.
Long ago I discussed on the phone with them asking are they going to make
more of the Anniversary in the different name, like Ref9 or something. He replied we will
not gonna do that, we will not betray our Anniversary customers like that. But Even Ferrari produced F40 in far more number than first announced too. But Anyway, This is really interesting product. My only complaint is that the main displays of current ARC pre amps don't match in design with the company's power amps displays. Only Ref3 and Ref 210 are matched. They go retro with analog meters dimly lit by white LED on power amps, but pre amps has green or color dot matrix displays.

I think I prefer the 40th Anniversary At least it wouldn't be superseded until the 50th Anniversary.

The Reference 10 is likely to be superseded by the 10SE and the 11/12 etc

Audio Research needed to have such preamplifier in their range. The performance of the REF Anniversary is still much better that that of the REF5 SE and often a top preamplifier is needed. Some dealers still had their demo Anniversary preamplifier, but could not use them in demos as it did not exist anymore for delivery. Can you imagine demoing a pair of REF750s with a REF5 SE while the Anniversary is hiding in the basement?

Nice!

Could be just my eyes but I don't seem to see the white teflon caps. More like the gold ones on the previous Ref 110 and Ref phono 2.

The sensor/ eye? or whatever it is among the buttons makes it's presence consistent among the newer models ( Ref 5se, Ref Phono 2se ). I'm just guessing but is it intended to address some issues related to inappropriate remote command response ?

I noticed the same.

I have no problems with the original plastic remote that came with the Ref Anniversary. However, I also have a metal remote for it similar to the one ARC introduced for the Ref 5SE and that one has the LED sank further in the body, resulting in a more limited usable angle (I have my preamp on the side of the listening position rather than in the front). The opening in the faceplate for the sensor receiver might help in that respect.

Thanks for the input!

I've also placed an order for the metal remote thinking the plastic unit was defective or damaged as I won't deny I've dropped it several times.

Kalvin has told me it's not entirely related to the remote but more on how the unit ( Ref Ann ) recieves the signal admixed with interference from digital devices, routers, computers etc.

There's an Upgrade or whatever you call it which is dealer installed like a download. I wonder who has already had this.
