Interested to see how they apply the DSP in the new system. This will make a big difference and Alpine make some good processes already.

My current ride has a Meridian systems with 14 speakers and it sounds pretty but not as good as my previous system. Can't really change it either as the head unit it is totally integrated into the car.
Makes sense that it was a Clarion since I believe they owned McIntosh at the time. It's not the first time McIntosh has rebadged stuff. I'm pretty sure that some of the home theater processors released when McIntosh was part of D+M Holdings were just rebadged Marantz units.

I posted earlier that car stereo would not cheapen Mc. But what you describe is exactly the kind of BS that cheapens any brand--mediocre sound from a rebranded mass market manufacturer in a mass market car. Could there be a worse move for brand equity?

Let's hope they do it the right way this time

McIntosh has been in the car audio business for well over 15 years. The MC420 came out in 2005 and I believe there were offerings well before that. I am not sure if there was a lapse between then and now but there probably was.

Ok I test drove the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve today and while it was a good car McIntosh totally missed the mark and I was highly unimpressed………. It honestly sounded terrible. Yes it’s car audio but my F150 sounds better
