I love my pair in the office.

Good idea!
Also the Dali Callistos are worth considering.
For 2K punching well above their price range.

But this Yamaha is also a candidate:

Very good reviews, less than 1K and lots of power.
Has everything onboard. The streamer works very well.
Add a couple of Dali Oberons (or Monitor Audio Bronze or even Silver) and you have a fantastic little system.
Not high end but very nice entry level.

Thanks guys, it's not a budget problem, it's a bricks and mortar problem. I need the 'harmonic sweet spot' with a dab, perhaps if it can work FM/ internet radio and CD player at not a shout to be heard volume. The Dynaudio XEO might be the solution. Basically I have a large living room which could take a standard box system and floor standers no problem but there are also a number of people not very far away, which includes a retired gentleman who though a nice chap ain't no audiophile. Everyone else is at work but for him, darn the man. Why do you think Headfi is so popular? Why are there £3-£4K Dap's and 'phones? Why do you think so many home vid hi fi playing youtube reviews are done in the middle of the day, or come from shows? I will try the expensive option for this problem later in the week, and the Dyna, before I plonk the R7 at the foot of my bed. Once again many many thanks for these continuing leads.

Keep in mind you can get much more HiFi with a good set of headphones for less money.
