PAID IN FULL as of today.

BOOM. Yeah I am pretty excited. And I have freaking loved the MC601's. Truly have. They have been wonderful with the Martin Logan CLX electrostatics.

And honestly I really have no preset feelings of how these will sound in my room other than the massive positive reviews there have been online here and other forums.

So there it is. I am officially a member of this thread Might take a week or so for these beasts to arrive.

I know we all love pictures so count on that soon as well.
Congrats! They will not disappoint.

I plan on possible upping my MC452 for a pair of MC601's down the road.

The MC2301's would be awesome. Just a bit out of my price range.

Tim.......I couldn't be happier for you. Long time coming but I am positive the MC2301 power amplifiers will be with you a long long time. I have had my pair for over 7 years now and still love them as much as the day I unpacked the factory boxes and hooked them up in the studio system. The McIntosh MC2301's are here permanently.

I am looking forward to seeing your photos and reading your impressions. Congratulations on making a dream come true.

Well

Boom. The 2301's were delivered about a month ago BUT I was so tied up with work and heading out to Furniture market in North Carolina. I was also in the middle of taking down my rack to install Nordost Sort Futs.

That said, the 2301's are connected and they only had about 40 hours on them. I truly scored a nice deal on these. So I am 'trying'....to not do any critical listening until they gain some break in hours.

Haha well I have to admit I will sit down a minute or 2 and listen. I am liking what I am hearing. Loving it actually!

With the MC452 and MC601's I preferred the 8ohm tap. BUT on these I am not sure. Going to wait. Other places I frequent seem to like McIntosh and Martin Logan on the 8ohm tap...The jury is still out on this. After they break in I'll do some longer comparisons.

These tubes need time I realize and not really sure how much is needed. I was a little surprised how detailed they are. Not necessarily 'bright' but detailed. I think I had this impression these tubes were going to be warmer and even worried they could be too warm.

The 601's were and still remain outstanding amps. Effortless power/grit and even finesse.

But I am hearing some details I missed before. Truly though I am not sitting long to listen as I want to be as objective as I can.

I will definitely update you guys in a couple of weeks. Wish there was a way to break-in these tubes without having to use the whole rig. (tube pre/and electrostatics.)

From pictures and most of the posts here prefer the tube covers ON but I am not sure! There is something glorious about having those tubes exposed. I will experiment both but for now I like them naked

Oh... I can foresee a higher A/C bill. I played them about 9 hours yesterday and could have roasted marshmallows.

When I complete the amp rack I will post pics.

Tim,
Congrats! These amps are chameleons - they seem to like whatever I throw at them. They can be detailed and lush at the same time. Dynamic and nuanced. It didn't take long for mine to settle in - maybe 50 hours, something like that. Enjoy!
