I just helped a friend set up a C2300/MC 452/Focal Sopra no. 3 System - it sounds really really good.

To someone who is starting a journey into high end, my advice has always been the same, don't get caught up in the endless gear swapping merry-go-round cycle. Plan ahead, do your research, audition and reach for components that you will be proud to own and derive satisfaction out of. While that seems like a big expense in the beginning, buying good components and enjoying them for years to come will be a fraction of the price if you get caught up in buying new and selling at a big loss. McIntosh is a solid choice as they offer components for just about every budget and need. Enjoy the journey.

There are good values out there, and Wireworld is among them. I don't know what budget you have, but another reasonably-priced suggestion is Kimber 8TC. A 6ft pair of 8TC runs around $360, but you may well find a better deal. By the way, Masterlu (Ivan) sells both Wireworld and Kimber.

I also have a C2300, and paired it with MC501 amps.

Thanks for the suggestions. I owned the 8TC’s when I had the KEF LS50’s and sold them because they were already a little to long with the LS50’s on stands and even longer when I moved to the 1028be’s. I will have to reach out to Ivan.

Welcome to the group! We have somewhat similar systems (McIntosh + Focal). Once you taste McIntosh you never go back! Enjoy.

I didn't need the 6ft length either, as my amps are next door to the speakers. I now use Kimber 12TC at 4ft. The 12TC is $388 with spades, $404 with bananas; those are the latest retail prices, I believe. Same sonic character but more air around the music. Custom lengths are possible, so you may want to give the 8TC another shot. By all means, see what Ivan says. You're sure to get a good deal.

Congrats. Unfortunately (or fortunately), your journey may have just begun. I too ran through several amps and preamps and digital combos as I got back into audio - even with research, it’s difficult to tell how these things sit with you over time. I’ve somewhat stabilized, but am now focused on the room (likely going to build a dedicated room), power, foundation, etc.

That said, I enjoy it every night when I sit down for an hour or two and miss it when I don’t. It is (only barely) cheaper than a shrink or too much booze, gambling or other vices. Now, it’s summer, when my focus moves to tarpon on the fly, which is just like cocaine, except more addictive and more expensive.
