I also called the Mac factory(probably about 2 years ago or so) as asked about the use of external power cords vs the stock cords provided by the factory. Long story short, their engineers don't believe in buying separate power cords and the stock cords are used at the factory to test their own electronics. I found this puzzling since a lot people seem to feel that the use of after market power cords make a big difference. Come to find out, their wall outlets are completely shielded from interference so they have no issues. The person that I spoke to also said that one engineer laughed so hard he feel out of his chair when someone told him that after market power cords make a audible improvement in sound. I have brand new wiring in my house but do notice some interference without the power strip,so I would guess that the power strip being away from the wall plus has addition isolation properties about it, provides me with all I need for my hi fi stuff. I have really have not given any addition thoughts to this until this thread. I don't feel that it's a problem for me, but many people feel it's of great benefit to them so it does have a place for those that would benefit from it. Many will disagree with my post but I do believe in science and I trust the engineers at MAC because their work is based on science as well.
I got more improvements from my interconnects than my speaker cables with Bybee spades, both fundamentally improved the sound- but one more than the other. Sometimes the extra cost is justified other times it's not. Everyone has to make their own choices as to what is right for their system.
This subject is very controversial and everyone will have their own opinion.

Greg.......The reason I am curious about the surge protection power strip is because you stated you have two 40A surge protection strips. The largest amperage surge protection strip for residential receptacle use is 20 amps, with the vast majority limited to a maximum of 15 amps.

Perhaps we are talking about two different things. I am speaking of the total amount of amperes the surge strip is rated to draw from the wall outlet. If your plug on the strip looks like the first diagram, the strip is rated for a maximum of 15 amperes. If your plug looks like the second diagram, the strip is rated for a maximum of 20 amperes. The next two plug sizes are 30 amperes (similar to your dryer outlet) with 10 gauge wire, and 50 amperes (similar to you range/oven outlet) with 8 gauge wire.
