Default iPhone 6 Plus is bending

iPhone 6 Plus owners should be aware that there appears to be a weak point in the iPhone 6 Plus aluminum case near the volume buttons. It seems the metal case will bend if the phone is in your pocket and you sit down, thus putting pressure on the phone's thin metal body.

If I had the iPhone 6 Plus in my front pocket and pulled it out to discover the phone bent from sitting or driving, I would be bent out of shape, too.

I think the iPhone 6 is the way to go if you plane to carry it in the pocket of your pants. I carry my Galaxy S5 in my pocket all the time without issues but anything bigger would be insane as far as I'm concerned.

Remember your Galaxy is plastic which is stronger than aluminum. I have no interest in an aluminum phone as it bends, scratches, and dents easier than plastic. People have this infatuation with wanting an aluminum phone supposedly because it feels premium then they put a plastic case on to protect it. Not sure I get it but each to their own. I have a plastic phone and no case on it; it takes a beating and keeps on going.

This may be a problem for many. I wonder where the apple insurance stands with this issue. Probably the same place they stand with cracked screens and water damage I would imagine, tough luck.

Dan..., this is what I just wrote in another thread

Quote:
I still believe the iPhone 5/5S screen size is the best and most ergonomic.

I wish the iPhone 6 had the same design, screen and battery size but with the same screen size as the 5S.

Despite all its qualities, the iPhone 6 is the most unergonomic iPhone yet. This is one of the rare time where Apple has chosen form over function. I hope it's not the mark of a new Apple
This is the first Apple product where my opinion is so divided.

I really don't want to be like all the people who say that this would not happen under Steve Jobs, but in this case I do believe it.

There are a lot of improvement in the 6 but the screen size is a major letdown for me and it's a compromise I hoped I wouldn't have to make.

Gruber's point on the whole thing

Quote:
I cannot believe that this “bent iPhone 6 Plus” thing is becoming a thing. Watch this jackass’s video — inexplicably promoted by Time magazine. Should not we be amazed that his phone didn’t snap in half under this pressure? That the glass didn’t fracture? Under pressure like this, bending but not breaking seems like an extraordinary feature. If you feel pressure like this on your iPhone 6 in your pocket, you need looser pants. And if you put your phone in your back pocket and sit on it, I’m not sure what to tell you.

That creates a whole new dimension to consider with respects to the phenomenon of "butt dialing"...
