When you have your look only to theoretical approach, you run the risk of wrong decision. It´s much more complex to get a winning system.

If you would have the chance listening - for example - Montille and WE300B in comparison at your favourite speakers, I think it would be easy to follow Jonathans good advice...

Carrying out is the only way getting assured experience..

I have no chance to listen, that's why I'm asking. A big part of why I'm seeking advice in forum is because Shindo gear are not available for audition where I am, much less audition them with the speakers I have in mind. If I could audition under perfect conditions with the exact set up I have in mind, then I will have no more questions.. If only..

My question is really pertaining to comparing shindo WE300B to similar offerings by other brands in terms of driving speakers. Please correct me if I'm wrong, what I guess if shindo really works only with 16 ohm load, then it should have lower damping factor than the average high end 300B SET amplifiers.

If you are willing to buy an amp that you will not be able to audition beforehand, then why not buy speakers you are also not able to audition beforehand , as well? You are hung up on speakers that you have been told by Shindo's distributor will not work optimally with the Shindo flagship amp. Why do you want to keep talking about it? If you want the flagship, and have the money for it, just go all in and get the speakers that work optimally with it. Or... You can keep talking about it.

davidoff, do you realize that you are "comparing" only by technical criteria? By putting side by side electronic characteristics ?
It's like comparing different wines by their color, alcoholic degree, temperature, without actually tasting them in your mouth with your papillae.

If you haven't read Jonathan's threat about understanding Shindo, I recommend that you begin there.
If you already have read it, read it again and think it.
With Goethe's words . Alles Gescheite ist schon gedacht worden, man muß nur versuchen, es noch einmal zu denken. wikipedia translation : All intelligent thoughts have already been thought; what is necessary is only to try to think them again.

The question is: which music from which system brings you emotional pleasure and happiness?

If you see the goal, you will find the way. The choice of the amplifier in a "Shindo-system" brings nuances, not a revolution in sound. The taste of revolution comes from the system as a whole.

(The more I write the more complicated and esoteric sounded it gets ;-) so I better stop right here)

As I stated earlier, I recommend buying nothing without first listening. You should hear for yourself the possibilities and make up your own mind. This is a potentially large investment, you should take the time to hear it for yourself. Why not a little vacation and answer the questions.

You should also work with someone that can guide you through the process and system matching- cables, racks, sources etc. rather than picking models based on what tubes or amps you think you'll like. As previously stated so well- "do you realize that you are "comparing" only by technical criteria? By putting side by side electronic characteristics ?

We are talking about a system approach. Taking one part of a "system" and dropping it into another is not a recipe for success. With this level of art, one must also have the correct display i.e. room.

Take a look at the speakers Shindo himself designed for his products. Look at what Auditorium 23 has designed for his products. Do these relate to the speakers you're looking at? Why don't the experts of Shindo (Keith Aschenbrenner and Shindo themselves) not make small low impedance speakers for use with the flagship amps?

The 755 is an excellent suggestion for one of the "smaller" amps. For the WE 300B Limited, this requires large and highly efficient speakers to speak its voice. Like plumbing, no point in a storm drain feeding a 1cm pipe.

Jonathan,

Can you give me some practical examples what speaker will work with the flagship amp? I know Latour will work, what else? Correct me if I'm wrong, from what you said both LM755 and Devore O96 are not suitable candidates for the flagship.

I would think the reference to low impedance or sensitivity was with reference to the 97 db 6 ohm Cessaro of the 93 db 8 ohm TF. The O/96 at 96db 10 Ohm is already more sensitive or of higher impedance than either of your two choices.

If you really want the top of the line Shindo sound, I would also suggest a Shindo speaker - the Latour, Petite Latour or the 604. You could try a 16Ohm Altec Valencia or WE speaker if you can find one that fits your place.

I would suggest a vacation - at the cost of the 300B and the Latour I would take a trip to LA and hear some different amps and speaker combination. For example, I like the O/96 best with the Haut Brion or the Lafite with the Cortese. I preferred the Haut Brion on the Devore Super 8, but the Montille 6V6 on Cain Abbys.

Without listening to the combinations you are just guessing.
