I own four MC275 V. All are bridged. Once I got those....I stopped shopping or looking around for other amps. I'm hanging onto my MC1201's but they get less play time than my 275's.

Of note...I use them on high efficiency speakers...horns

I also don't care for the stock tubes.

Dan, I'm glad you like them. You were the start of the inspiration to go down this route again. I had a new MC275 V a couple of years ago and sold it as I thought it was too dark or dull. I never changed out the tubes and sold it.

Then just couldn't believe the amount of positive posts regarding that amp.....so I tried again and changed the tubes.....In fact...I never even listened to the stock tubes this second time around....I just put all 4 sets of tubes into storage for the possible distant future owner of the amps.

Terry.......The perception of an event after it has happened always seems crystal clear. Hindsight is always 20/20. All I can do is offer them to you first if I ever decide to part with them. That's the best I can do.

JC.......Ideally, using the MC275's on high efficiency speakers is the best way to go. I have no doubt the modified Klipsch Cornwall's sing their hearts out with the MC275 amps driving them. That makes a sweet system, for sure.

Like you, I sold my first MC275 MkV after having it in my main system driving the PMC EB1i's. It was able to drive the speakers at moderate volume levels, but for those times when I really cranked it up the 75 watts per channel was not enough power. I should have just bought another MC275. I no sooner sold it when I began to regret letting it go. It was over a year before I managed to come across two more, and they will stay with me this time.

Dali Helicon 800 MKII
VPI Aries 3

Currently using stock tubes that came with. but, will be looking at tube rolling in the near future. I have 2 matched pair of Telefunken 12AX7 to install on my preamp. the top is hard to come off. I wonder if I have to remove the sides as well.

I will be posting pictures this week.

Thanks

Power, speakers, and IC are all latest edition of Harmonic Technolgy. IC's are RCA, I wonder how XLR will do.

Formerly YB-2.......I haven't experienced those results. When I decided to buy two MC275 MkV's and run them mono, I had the first amp about a month before I purchased the second one. The single MC275 MkV operated in stereo mode driving a pair of SF Cremona Auditors. In that month period of time I spent many hours enjoying that system, becoming quite familiar with it's sound. Once the second MC275 MkV arrived I set both amps up in parallel mono operation, tubed identical, and kept on listening. I heard no change in the sonic signature. There was a definite improvement in dynamic range, and in the continuous volume levels I was able to enjoy, but I did not loose any resolve, detail, air around instruments or voices, or any other diminished sonic characteristics that I became aware of. If there was ever a time I would have noticed that, it would have been when I first went mono with the two amps. What I heard was the same wonderful, life like, organic texture that these amps are able to reproduce in stride. Of course we all hear differently, so you may have sensed something that I did not. My experience running the MC275 MkV amps in mono has shown me that this is really the best way to use these amplifiers.

That's okay, Dan. I'm glad you enjoy them. I may go down that route again some time.
