Default McIntosh C2500 info

Besides having Dac section and tone controls by remote only....any improvements in tube analog section that may have it sound better than the C2300? If there is actual improvement to analog preamplifier section, than new model is worth waiting for in March.

To me dac section, will be same as phono preamp section, feature not being used as I feel separate Dac is better in long term as Dac technology will continue to change.

Now on the fence between C2300 and C2500.

Does anyone have a pdf of the brochure yet?

Dan

You've already answered your own question - Get the 2300!

If it were me, and between those 2 preamps, The C2500 all the way. I know the deal with the dac but for casual listening it will be superb and probably awesome for some hi-rez depending on input. It will always be what it is and with some newer technology inside. I don't use the phono inputs on my preamps but I have to take them anyway.

The C2500 has 2 balanced inputs whereas the C2300 has 4, in the event that's a concern for you. I'm not planning to "upgrade" my C2300 to the C2500.

I've always felt that way about tape loops.

I'd like to see a shot of the rear of the 2500, as I quite like its looks, more than the 2300.

+1

I have not seen a photo of the rear. The preamps are not fully balanced, the XLR inputs are just for convenience anyway. That's not a deal breaker for me.

That DAC will be obsolete long before the phono stage!
