How does it compare to the dac in the MCD1100? Any idea?

Thanks!
At msrp of $2500 I doubt its an ESS Sabre DAC. I find the lack of information from McIntosh about the DAC troubling. Last time they did this we got the C48/50.

If anyone finds out what DAC its using I think we all would appreciate it if you would post it here.

It is an ESS. It's like the lower half of the mcd1100. Good that they didn't change the design/specs as mentioned in the other thread.

I agree that it will be a good seller for mc. Good price range, and good SQ.

Get excited already if you aren't! ")

I am interested if the DA100 is better than the Wadia121 DAC?

I ordered the Wadia some weeks ago and i'm still waiting for it......so i don't know what to do.

The Wadia is about 1500€ in germany, the price of the McIntosh is not confirmed. I guess it will be around 2800-3000€.......

A winner.

If it would be complemented by a Streamer/Server and Rip Station in the same form factor it would be a killer system...and herald McIntosh into a new era !

This is very exciting. I have been wanting a DAC for a while but have been waiting for this ever since I first hear about it. It should pair up nicely with my MA6600 and make for a sweet and relatively compact system with big sound.

miatadan ... any information on when these will start shipping?

I'm not following how this preamp is great for an ma6600 owner? Would you just bypass the ma6600 front-end or are you planning on using it as like an uber-digital switchbox for one input on the ma6600. (i.e. 5 digital inputs to feed into the ma6600 front-end).
