Install the Gold Lion's before you ever set up the preamp. It will put you miles ahead right from the start.

Yup good idea Dan........i will be doing that for sure Dan i noticed on the Mcintosh website it says use 8 12AX7a tubes...........however when i look online for 12AX7a i seem to get 12AX7 and not the "a" .....does the "a" just mean A-stock and not "b" stock or am i missing something?

Michael.......Tubes designated as 12AX7A can be used in circuits where the tube heaters are wired in parallel or series. Tubes designated has 12AX7 can only be used in parallel heater circuits. The heater filaments in 12AX7A's are rated for higher current. This is not an issue with modern amplifiers where tubes heater circuits are wired in parallel.

There was also a time back in the 1940's when the A designation was also used to note low noise tubes. That is no longer used.

Any 12AX7 tube will work correctly in the C1000T preamplifier although not all of them sound as good as others.

Michael.......I usually buy my Gold Lion tubes from BnB Tubes, an eBay store. I have shopped with them for over ten years and always get good service, quick shipping, and very competitive prices. Copy and paste this web address into your search line. stores.ebay.com/BNB-TUBES-INC
