Beautiful setup you've put together. My Reference 5 SE just hit the six hundred hour mark, and I couldn't be more pleased. Enjoy the music!

Welcome to AA, Bobby!

My Ref5 and Ref75 are just shy of 450 hours. Amazing combo.

Thank you. Are you running balanced or single ended with your ARC combo?

Balanced, with TA "Super". I really need to upgrade, those are definitely the weak link in my system. This is coming from a former non-believer in wires.

I am auditioning a Transparent "Premium" AES/EBU cable right now between my Bryston BDP-1 and BDA-1 and it is crazy how much of a difference it makes. I had been using a stock Bryston cable until now. Thinking about now trying the Reference. Can't quite swing the Reference XL at this point, but I understand they offer a pretty good upgrade option for later. Next step will be to swap out my Audioquest for more Transparent cabling.

Any words of advice or reminiscences of getting this amp, preamp combo?
Congrats on the purchase! Let us know what you think of the sonic improvement after break-in.

Does anyone recall the first time they took the cover off the Ref 5SE to install the tubes, there being an orange pull tab next to the white capacitors that is labeled,

"Remove slowly, save this for shipping"? There was no mention in the manual, but it appears they wanted you to remove it. It attached to a little foam strip that
sat under all the white capacitors, keeping them from contacting the floor.

Hi 2fastdriving,

I am considering a move up to Transparent Super XLR between my source and Ref 10. I am currently using an Audioquest Columbia XLR. What other brands/types have you used and what in particular do you like about Transparent? I have never tried a cable with a built in network before. Very curious and my dealer has one I can try. I am also intrigued by the upgrade program, so I could move up to Ultra as funds allow...
Any feedback would be appreciated. Nice system by the way!

Thank you,
Jason
